MEC Bikefest!



MEC Bikefest is a day-long biking event on June 25  in the Distillery District with clinics, seminars, demos, bike tours, activities for kids and more. Clinic topics include bike repair, safe city riding, mountain biking techniques and other tips and interests for cyclists. There is also a bike swap during the afternoon for old bikes and gear. This is separate from the retail vendors that will be on-site throughout the day.

Toronto Splash Pads

 

The city has announced the opening dates for public splash pads, wading pools and outdoor pools. (80 splash pads, 100 supervised wading pools and 70 outdoor pools across the city).

Splash pads opened May 28 and will be in operation until Sept. 18. Water sprays operated by push-button release are in use daily between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., the city said.

Because these are unsupervised play areas, parents should supervise their children at all times, the city said.

Weather permitting, wading pools are scheduled to open on individual schedules June 30. They will close Sept. 4. Again, parents or caregivers should supervise their children at all times in these areas.

As for outdoor pools, 12 are opening June 18 on a part-time basis, while 58 will open to swimmers June 25. All pools will be open until Sept. 4.
